Tribology is the science behind friction, wear and lubrication. Lubricants play an important role in vehicles, directly contributing to the fuel efficiency of the engine. Students at the 2013 Shell Eco-marathon Americas in Houston took part in innovation sessions where they learnt more about Tribology and discussed solutions to Tribology-related challenges in their projects. This set the stage for the upcoming Tribology Award to be launched in 2014.
